CAO Amazon Basin Toro cigars are presented in limited edition boxes of 18 and are handcrafted at STG Estelí in Nicaragua. They feature an exotic Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder, with a rare filler blend that includes Brazilian Bragança tobacco from the Amazon rainforest, harvested only once every three years, alongside Colombian and Dominican long fillers. The result is a uniquely complex and characterful smoke inspired by untamed natural surroundings.
This substantial 6 x 52 toro offers a smoking time of around 60 to 65 minutes at a medium to full strength. It opens with earthy barnyard notes, a burst of black pepper, and a subtle raisin sweetness, layered with oak and espresso. As the cigar develops, flavours evolve into baking spices, roasted peanuts, rich earth, and dark chocolate, complemented by hints of cinnamon, leather, and a touch of woody nuance. The finish is dense and full, supported by a sharp burn and impressive smoke output. Known for its distinctive coiled tobacco “carotte” presentation, reminiscent of traditional Amazonian transport methods, each annual release delivers a bold and adventurous smoking experience. Ideal when paired with a peaty Scotch or strong coffee, it captures the spirit of the rainforest in a refined and collectible cigar.
